1. Who is responsible for your data

Snowvue Technologies Limited (“Snowvue”), a company incorporated in Uganda, is the data controller for personal data processed through the Snowvue app, Progressive Web App and website. Our registration as a data controller with the Personal Data Protection Office (PDPO) of Uganda is in progress.

2. Our Data Protection Officer

We have appointed a Data Protection Officer (DPO). You can reach the DPO at privacy@snowvue.com for any question about how your data is handled or to exercise your rights.

3. What we collect and why

We collect only what is needed for each feature. Optional features ask for your separate consent before any data is processed.

4. Our lawful bases

  • Contract — to provide the services you signed up for;
  • Consent — for optional features (for example AI analysis, marketplace participation, energy estimate, Find my kin), which you can switch off at any time;
  • Legal obligation — tax, accounting and regulatory record-keeping;
  • Legitimate interests — keeping the Platform secure and preventing fraud, balanced against your rights.

5. Who we share data with

  • Other users, only where you choose to (for example a buyer you transact with, or members of your Family Circle);
  • Service providers who act on our instructions under written agreements (messaging, AI analysis, weather data, hosting and storage, notifications);
  • Public authorities where the law requires it. We never sell your personal data and never use it for targeted advertising. Research partners receive only aggregated, de-identified data.

6. Where your data is stored

Your personal data may be stored and processed in data centres located outside Uganda. Wherever it is stored, we apply the safeguards required by the Uganda Data Protection and Privacy Act, 2019, including written data-processing agreements and appropriate contractual clauses with our providers.

7. How long we keep it

We keep personal data only as long as needed for the purpose it was collected, or as required by law (for example seven years for payment and tax records). When you delete your account we delete or de-identify your data within the periods set out in our Privacy Policy.

8. Children

Snowvue is for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from children and never create child profiles.

9. Your rights

You have the right to access, correct, delete and port your data, to object to or restrict processing, and to withdraw consent at any time. You can do most of this directly in the app (Profile → Privacy), or by emailing privacy@snowvue.com. We respond within 30 days. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Personal Data Protection Office (Uganda) — www.pdpo.go.ug.

10. Security

We protect your data with encryption in transit and at rest, secure hashing of PINs and passwords, optional Multi-Factor Authentication, access controls and regular security reviews. If a breach is likely to put your rights at risk, we will notify the PDPO within 72 hours and tell you without undue delay.

11. Changes

We will tell you in the app and by email at least 30 days before any material change to this Notice takes effect.
